Sabot at Stony Point, a Reggio-inspired preschool through 8th grade school in Richmond, VA, seeks a Director of Communications and Marketing to develop and oversee comprehensive communications and marketing strategies for the school. Through strategic and systematic communications with all constituencies, this member of the administrative team will help to promote a school culture of engagement, inclusion, transparency, satisfaction and confidence. The Director will also support the admissions process – and enhance Sabot’s visibility and eminence – through marketing, media relations, public relations, and publications. By helping to showcase Sabot’s pedagogy and impact on our students and on the field of education, the Director of Communications and Marketing will help our organization to live our aspiration to be A Small School for Big Change.
Responsibilities: • Design and implement a comprehensive communication strategy to elevate and sustain communications with and among: Faculty and staff, Current parents, Prospective parents, Grandparents, Alumni, Donors, Board of Directors • Lead school marketing efforts including brand management, messaging, and creation of digital and print materials • Implement a social media marketing plan • Optimize the Sabot at Stony Point website as a source of information for, and communication with, key constituencies and audiences • Develop and maintain strong, working relationships with local, specialty and national media • Capture, distill, and disseminate essential features and outcomes of our approach • Write and edit press releases, OpEd pieces, and feature articles • Provide Project Management for publications including semi-annual newsletters and the Annual Report

Applicant must: • upon employment, be able to pass criminal background checks • have an understanding of and enthusiasm for Sabot’s mission and program • be able to work collaboratively with numerous members of the staff and school community • be able to coordinate and manage workflow of content creators including writers, designers, photographers, videographers • hold a minimum of three years experience in relevant positions • have excellent written and verbal communication skills • hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in communications, marketing, public relations or related field • have knowledge of print production process, design through press • have experience with digital photography • be familiar with web content management systems and social media integration
