Our nonprofit client, Feed The Children (FEED), has recently retained our executive search firm to assist in locating a Vice President of Direct Response Fundraising to lead the organization’s direct marketing for global development and expand efforts around the world.
Established in 1979, FEED exists to end child hunger. It is one of the largest US-based charities and serves those in need in the US and in 10 countries around the world. The organization provides food, education, essentials and disaster relief. Domestically, FEED operates five distribution centers (located in Oklahoma, Indiana, California, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania). In fiscal year 2016, the organization distributed 105 million pounds of food and essentials worldwide valued at $415 million, working with partner agencies to benefit 5.9 million people globally. FEED is taking a stand and will not rest until every child has enough to eat.
Reporting to the Chief Development Marketing Officer, the Vice President of Direct Response Fundraising will develop a comprehensive strategy and lead a department of approximately 45 individuals responsible for expanding the organization’s direct response fundraising income supporting the growth and expansion of FEED’s US and global programs. This position is part of a collaborative team that provides organizational oversight to ensure effectiveness and growth. Engaging donors is the heart of this work.
We seek an individual with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in either nonprofit or for-profit, with at least 5 years in a nonprofit fundraising position of increasing responsibility and complexity. The candidate must be seasoned in design and execution of a strategic plan in a complex environment with multiple offerings and multiple channels. The ideal background will have professional experience managing overall growth of a direct response fundraising operation in development. This executive will be highly analytical with a deep understanding of donor success metrics. Senior leadership experience working within large, complex, mission-driven enterprises is expected. The selected candidate will be a strong, executive leader who shares the passion and conviction of their mission.
