Position Purpose: The Chief Marketing & Communications Officer is responsible for executing on a vision to elevate the voice, presence, and reach of AACE across a variety of external and internal stakeholders. Key core areas of responsibility include: Brand Management, Communications, Publications, Community Engagement & Chapter Relations, Media Relations, Membership and Public Relations.
Directly Supervises: Creative Experience Officer
Duties and Responsibilities:
Manage AACE brand and reputation. Be a brand evangelist and advocate for AACE and its members.
Build a clear vision for marketing AACE’s brand awareness nationally and globally with compelling messages that conveys the unique niche of AACE in a growing field and that steward a cohesive and inspiring sense of the organization’s identity;
Design, shape, and roll out innovative and effective communications strategies that advance AACE’s agenda and ambitious goals for advocacy campaigns and programs, including an organization-wide digital strategy;
Be a liaison to the CEO and partner with other senior leaders to establish compelling and clear content and messaging for a broad range of audiences, including staff, AACE members, media and other stakeholders.
Directly supervise media relations efforts. Work with the team to elevate national media efforts to achieve frequent and regular earned media exposure for AACE on traditional print, broadcast media, and online;
Seek speaking and public engagement opportunities for AACE leadership and maintain relationships with important conferences, speaker’s bureaus, and other relevant field events of value to AACE brand building and message dissemination.
Analyze and make changes as necessary to the size, structure, and key roles on the Communications team in a growing and entrepreneurial department, with an eye towards maximizing resources, and meeting the changing needs as AACE grows as a whole;
Set and achieve aggressive metrics that measure the success of AACE’s communications department and bring fresh thinking and new ideas to work towards ambitious goals;
Liaise with teams and organization for crisis management.
Track and maintain annual department budgets.
Innovate and enhance digital solutions to effectively communicate marketing solutions for AACE as a whole.
Work closely with other executives to collaborate and establish strategic solutions for business development to fully utilize communication resources and expansions.

Job Specifications: Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree or equivalent association experience required. Minimum 8 years of experience in executive-level management needed. Ability to think strategically and articulate AACE’s vision, mission, and goals. Effective organizational leader with excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Motivated, inspirational, thoughtful, energetic, talented, and team-oriented individual with a proven record of performance and success. Accountability, attention to detail and follow-through essential. Able to work well with physician volunteers, Board members, executives, and staff, as well as with counterparts at other organizations. Experience with budgeting and resource development, and alignment with strategic planning. Flexible and able to multitask; can work within an ambiguous, fast-moving environment, while also driving toward clarity and solutions; demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding investment in people and systems. Possess personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to corporate mission. Excellent people skills, with an ability to partner with a dynamic leadership team. Some travel will be required.
