Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an exciting, highly qualified and experienced Director Public Relations, Marketing, Communication for The Rutgers School of Nursing. This has a role in telling the School's story externally and internally, while in the process, defining and building the Rutgers School of Nursing brand. The incumbent reports to the Vice Dean for Administration and Student Services and serves as the School's chief marketing officer.
The Director Public Relations, Marketing, Communication has the responsibility for research-based messaging, marketing, and brand identity and positioning activities and overall marketing of the School to potential populations to enhance growth and sustainability. This individuals also serves as a lead content creator for the SON; overseeing in the development and design of public facing materials that communicate key messages to target audiences.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Develops deliverables including but not limited to: collateral, thought leadership, proposals, articles, monthly blasts, digital media, events, and industry rankings.
Represents and promotes the School of Nursing, increasing its visibility and supporting the institution's mission, vision, and goals. She or he will lead the development and implementation of the School's vision, strategy, and marketing campaigns to create a distinct positioning and identity, attract the best students, motivate alumni and donors, and recruit high quality faculty and staff.
Develops and leads social media marketing efforts for the school, including but not limited to: Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and other nursing specific platforms.
Requires day-to-day team leadership with a focus on building a strong culture of collaboration and teamwork that relies on open, honest communication with clear lines of accountability.
Works with school administration and Academic Programs in an effort to coordinate the marketing activities of the individual units, divisions, and programs.
Collaborates with the leadership of Rutgers Community Health Centers, the Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) managed within the School of Nursing, in the production of a marketing plan focusing on increased visibility and knowledge of services.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor's degree in public relations, marketing, communication, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates skill, comprehensive knowledge, and understanding, as appropriate, of public relations, promotions, event design and production, marketing, hospitality, proofreading, writing, editing, public communications, organization, coordination, and project management.
Also requires a minimum of five years relevant experience in a public relations or promotions/event planning function, excellent communication skills, and computer literacy to include industry standard software.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong verbal and written communication skills, professional presentation and organizational skills, as well as interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively work with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community.
The ability to develop and implement strategic communications and research based marketing plans.
Experience and ability to meet targeted marketing and enrollment goals.
Expertise in making presentations and negotiating with the media is required.
A commitment to working with a diverse racial, ethnic, and multicultural populations.
Master's degree in marketing or a related field; 7-10 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Knowledge and understanding of current and emerging industry requirements and practices in area of marketing expertise.
Knowledge and experience in traditional as well as digital and social media marketing.
Management experience in budgeting, fiscal management, research, and customer service.
