The Director of Communications is responsible for communicating Pingree’s unique character and mission through storytelling and creative messaging. This position presents an opportunity for a highly creative professional to play a central role in shaping the messaging for a premier, progressive independent day school. The person in this position will design content and experiences that invite all constituents to understand the character and values of the Pingree community. The Director will be a visible, collaborative community presence, forging strong relationships with faculty/staff, students, parents, alumni, and key volunteers that will facilitate an exchange of information across the community. This position will integrate compelling stories across all channels, including website, social media, alumni magazine, print and electronic news, invitations and announcements. The Director will work collaboratively with and supervise the Senior Content Marketing Associate, while also working closely with the Athletics, Advancement and Admission Offices to coordinate outreach efforts and design interactions that inspire participants to tell others about their Pingree experiences. The ideal candidate will have a sense of humor and be a voracious consumer of information about education and innovation, an empathetic people person who has the ability to connect with a range of personalities, a masterful storyteller, a tech-savvy opportunist, and a detail-oriented change agent with strong project management skills. The Director will oversee the production, budgets, and project management of all print and web materials, including but not limited to: web stories, press releases, programs for special events, alumni bulletins, admission materials, summer program materials, invitations, program books, campaign and advancement outreach, and all other print collateral. Serving on the Administrative Team and reporting to the Head of School, the Director of Communications will be a tireless advocate for Pingree’s brand. Successful candidates will have a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years experience in communications, marketing or a related field. Excellent written communication skills, superior interpersonal and organizational skills, and collaborative approach to work are required. Applicants should have knowledge of web content management systems and dexterity with social media platforms. Experience in independent schools is desirable but not required. |
