The Marketing & Membership Specialist is responsible for the execution of the association’s membership recruitment and retention activities in addition to providing marketing support for educational programming.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Work closely with the Director of Marketing & Member Services to develop the membership recruitment and retention plan and goals.
Execute membership recruitment marketing tactics, including writing headlines and copy for marketing materials such as email, direct mail, web, social media, print ads, and dues billing invoices.
Coordinate project execution including list procurement, printing, production and/or distribution.
Coordinate revisions of the online membership applications.
Manage membership recruitment efforts as they relate to resident and fellowship programs.
Implement international membership strategies.
Monitor membership growth, glean insights from trends and make recommendations.
Track and analyze competitor’s services, prices and messaging; synthesizes information to create an integrated strategy.
Compose email and web copy for membership and marketing activities.
Oversee fulfillment of new member kits.
Provide general marketing support for AANA’s education programs and other services.
Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES

Experience with Microsoft Office and association management systems (ideally IMiS)
Experience with Content Management Systems and Email Marketing Software (ideally Sitefinity and ExactTarget)
Ability to excel at independent work and closely manage project timelines with minimal oversight
Ability to interact effectively and to work congenially in a small office environment
Ability to think strategically and analyze results
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business or related field.
1-3 years’ experience in marketing and/or membership, preferably in an association.
Experience working with volunteers.
Nature of work requires ability to operate standard office equipment. Requires ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, set-up and maintain work files.
Work is performed in a general office setting. Occasional availability for extended hours plus non-traditional hours to perform job duties may be required. Same day and overnight travel may be required.
