POSITION OVERVIEW Sacramento Country Day School seeks a strategic, creative, thoughtful, software and tech savvy communications professional to serve as our Director of Marketing and Communications charged with leading overall strategies for all communications and marketing on behalf of the school from planning through successful execution. The successful candidate will have experience (preferably in an independent school or similar non-profit) managing all internal and external outreach, with the exceptional written communication skills needed to articulate a clear and concise message. The position also requires graphic design and production knowledge, website content management skills, multi-media campaign experience utilizing social media, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to think of the big picture while being up to your knees in the weeds. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Plan and implement, in cooperation with the Head of School, Assistant Head of School, Director of Admissions, and the Director of Advancement, a comprehensive long-range marketing and communications plan including outreach into the community and internal and external communications. Review, evaluate, and update this plan as needed. Develop and manage an integrated online presence, including social media and management of school website content and design. Manage media relations, including writing and distributing press releases and cultivating relations with local media. Oversee and manage photography and multimedia libraries and processes for creating and generating media content as needed. Review the production of all school publications, Annual Report, event invitations and programs, Parents Association materials, etc. Assist in developing and implementing strategic communications, branding, and public relations plans and programs for the school. Support admissions, development, community outreach, publications, advertising, media relations and capital campaign needs. Manage the Communications and Marketing budget. Maintain relationships with website vendors, photographers, graphic designers and printing firms. Maintain common editorial and graphic standards across School publications for branding reputation and integrity. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five (5) years Communications and Marketing experience required. Technical skills that support the essential job duties and responsibilities as described above. Ability to write, edit and design for professional publications, community news bulletins, and for social media sites. Demonstrated experience with photography, videography, website content management and design, and social media marketing. Proven track record as an independent and goal-oriented manager with a dedication to meeting deadlines.
