The position will be responsible for overall strategic planning for marketing the BIO International Convention, all other BIO conferences and revenue-generating activities. This position has the responsibility of overseeing and managing day to day marketing personnel. In coordination with Operations, Education and Sales/Sponsorship teams, will perform marketing functions to increase registration, exhibits and advertising/sponsorship revenue at BIO events. The position will develop and execute strategic marketing plans and research and identify growth audiences for BIO conventions and conferences. Position will be responsible for marketing budgets, forecasts and reporting.
In addition, the Vice President of Marketing & Customer Experience will assist with cross functional initiatives within BIO and lead customer experience activities to create a brand loyalty and competitive advantage.
In coordination with external committees and internal departments, strategic marketing plan development and execution for the BIO International Convention, other BIO conferences and revenue-generating activities
Overall budget development, management and oversight for marketing the BIO International Convention, other BIO conferences and revenue-generating activities.
Work with other internal stakeholders to meet established attendance and registration revenue goals as well as exhibit space, sales and sponsorship goals
Work with other internal stakeholders to identify and develop co-locations to enhance the educational program and attendance for BIO events
Develop promotional opportunity ideas and work with the Sales and Operations teams to develop costs and execute
Develop strategies around marketing content to drive registration at all events
Work with BIO's data analyst to identify conference trends, market behavior and opportunities for revenue growth
Coordinate with Communications to further develop event advertising and media planning
Coordinate with Membership and State Government Relations to establish and maintain state chapter relations for attendee growth and development as well as promotion of BIO Revenue Innovation products/services
Coordinate with Registration on registration analysis needs
Management of marketing staff and related consultants
Development of marketing staff through goals, objectives and training
Staff liaison for appropriate Convention committees
Work with other BIO staff in an advisory capacity as required
Develop the strategy and drive implementation and ongoing management of customer experience as a business discipline. This includes developing and communicating a vision, driving culture change, ensuring alignment with BIO's priorities and influencing decision making
Lead customer research and provide insights on the customer experience and lifecycle to inform business decisions across BIO departments. Primary lead for BIO surveys, focus groups, etc.
Develop engagement and loyalty campaigns, measuring impact on customer feedback, retention, net promoter scores, etc.
Work with BIO's data analyst to synthesize data points across analytics, research and other sources ensuring insights and ideas are communicated and translated into actionable recommendations for executive staff
Manage and develop a high performing team of change agents and influencers both inside and outside of BIO (staff, state affiliates, international delegation organizers, association partners, etc.)

A solid understanding and knowledge of general integrated sales and marketing principles
