Work Conditions: Work is primarily performed indoors and is sedentary in nature. Some evening and weekend work is required to perform duties of the job.
Duties of Position: Assists Marketing Specialists in researching and implementing marketing tactics to position Harper College brand, grow enrollment and/or promote College events, programs and services. This includes working with and through college colleagues to optimize marketing and communication of programs and services and by executing promotional efforts. Typically works under the direction of a Marketing Specialist who serves multiple markets and service lines.
Works with appropriate staff to secure secondary research or complete primary research such as focus groups and surveys.
Implementation Meets with internal clients, assists in the clarification of measurable communication goals and/or event outcomes and completes tactics under the supervision of a Marketing Specialist.
Researches, develops and writes original content for traditional print, mass media, social media, email or online communications. Rewrites and edits copy submitted by clients. Responsible for proofing. Serves as proofreader for various institutional publications/communication channels.
Completes communication tasks related to specific market(s), service line(s) or special events. Collaborates with staff, for successful project completion.
Assists marketing services staff in working with with appropriate internal/external vendors to define accurate project deliverables and cost estimates. Reports/maintains budget reports as necessary..
Writes audience-focused copy and updates content using Harper’s web content management system under direction of Marketing Specialist.
Accurate use of the MSC project management system and communicates project status with client and internal MSC workgroups.
Assists Digital Content Specialist in updating college online events calendar.
Conducts interviews, writes and organizes assets for student and faculty testimonials.
Completes projects on time and on budget.
Analytics and Reporting
Assists marketing specialists in tracking digital and traditional campaigns.
Works effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary Marketing and Communications team to communicate, coordinate, and integrate Marketing and Communications, and apply best-in-class practices to all efforts.
Assists with special projects and events upon request.
Assists marketing specialist team with administrative and clerical functions as necessary including organizing and filing all job jackets.
Performs related duties as assigned.
Educational Requirements: Bachelors Degree in Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations or related field.
Experience Requirements: Minimum four years in marketing/sales support, public relations, educational/business advertising, social media or related field. Excellent oral and written communication, proofing skills are required. Multimedia experience preferred. Ability to contribute to a collaborative work environment a must.
