Posting Summary: The University of Virginia Darden School of Business, one of the world's leading business schools, seeks a highly motivated marketing professional to join its Communication & Marketing team.
The Director of Enterprise Marketing will build global awareness of the UVA Darden brand and communicate its value across channels to a diverse set of targeted audiences in support of enrollment and business goals. With a focus on the customer journey and leading-edge digital marketing, the director oversees a team that develops and executes innovative marketing programs in support of the School's strategic goals. The position also leads the development of Darden's websites.
As an enterprise marketing leader, the director also convenes, sets direction and works closely with a cross-functional group of marketing professionals in Admissions and Executive Education to meet goals and ensure consistent projection of the Darden brand.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Marketing Leadership - Working with the Executive Director of Communication and Marketing, builds and develops a high-performance team with leading-edge digital capabilities. Oversees four direct reports. Sets the School's marketing strategy through productive collaboration across work groups and departments and convenes a marketing council within an account management structure. Ensures that messaging and communication strategies are consistent across channels, are centered on the customer and strengthen the Darden brand.
Degree Program Enrollment Marketing - Working closely with the Director of Enrollment Marketing, Degree Programs (account executive for Admissions), aligns brand positioning, customer journey, lead generation, marketing automation, analytics, inbound marketing/content and social strategies to create innovative, revenue-driving campaigns that fuel application growth and enrollment.
Website Management - Leads management and front-end development of Darden's main websites and their evolution/redesign. Manages governance of the site, working with content owners across Darden so that they can access and promote content in a unified CMS. Collaborates with the IT and C&M creative teams, and content owners across Darden, to present a compelling online user experience. Optimizes website content to improve volume/traffic by increasing visibility in organic search results (SEO).
Social Media - Works collaboratively with the team to define, execute and integrate social media strategy (paid and organic).
Marketing Research - Oversees Darden's partnership with a market research agency to steer research projects that help the Darden team make informed decisions, identify and seize opportunities, and heighten their effectiveness.
Analytics - Uses analysis and data to optimize digital marketing campaign performance, attribution and predictive business intelligence. Tracks and reports regularly on KPIs and recommends and executes ongoing improvements for optimizing strategy, budget allocation, and end-to-end customer experience
Reporting - Communicates results to various stakeholder groups. Presents information through dashboards and clear, intuitive visualizations.
Budgeting - Leads collaborative process for the marketing budget allocation.
Communication / Leadership - Serves as a valued member of the School's Leadership Team and a member of the Darden School Foundation Branding, Marketing and Communication Committee.
Required Minimum Level of Education: *Degree Required
Required Specific Degree/Training: Bachelor's degree in Marketing or related field
Preferred Minimum Level of Education: *Degree Preferred
Preferred Specific Degree/Training: Master's degree in Marketing or related field
Required Minimum Level of Experience: Considerable - 4 to 7 years
Required Specific Experience: Experience in marketing and digital marketing
Preferred Minimum Level of Experience: Extensive - 7 years plus
Preferred Specific Experience: Experience in higher education, particularly graduate business education
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Proven track record in leading teams and managing cross-functional teams to achieve results. Ability to think innovatively and optimize for best results. Experience in managing and transforming / evolving a website as a critical extension of a brand that meets strategic goals. Experience in optimizing the website and user experience, leveraging social media, and leading SEO/SEM, email, mobile and display marketing campaigns. Experience in all facets of advertising (digital, print, environmental, broadcast, etc). Experience in managing and optimizing budgets. Knowledge of database marketing to support audience targeting. Strong organizational, analytical and execution skills. Executive presence and the ability to promote a positive image of the School and represent the School's interests before the public, media and other schools. Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making to achieve organizational objectives.
