The Conference Marketing Specialist position is primarily responsible for the execution of the association’s marketing activities for IAFC produced and managed conferences and events.
Implement marketing strategies and tactics that drive attendance for IAFC specialized conferences and events (attendance 500-100).
Support conference marketing specialist as required in marketing IAFC annual conference and expo (attendance 10,000)
Collaborate with program planning committees, marketing specialist, conference team staff, graphic designer to develop, produce and distribute a variety of print and digital marketing materials, including but not limited to print and electronic direct mail; flyers and brochures; infographics, videos, webcasts and online articles.
Work with web manager and graphic designer to create and maintain compelling conference websites, with focus on usability, design, and content. Regularly review and update content on conferences websites as needed.
Work with digital manager to develop and implement tactics that promote IAFC events and engagement across social media channels.
Assist in managing digital and print marketing and advertising strategies.
Assist in managing event marketing information on IAFC conference apps.
Support of media partnerships and marketing-related trades/barters. Oversee fulfillment, manage logistics and evaluate effectiveness of those relationships.
Support marketing fulfillment related to corporate partnership agreements.
BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS OF INCUMBENT:
Education: Four-year degree in marketing, business, communications or related field.
Skills: Superior project management skills, managing multiple projects simultaneously and providing clear communication of timelines and expectations to team members; superior written, verbal and interpersonal skills with attention to accuracy and detail; ability to analyze markets and customer needs and develop marketing plans and product recommendations based on those needs; strong knowledge of print and digital marketing concepts, strategies and best practices; strong skills using email marketing platforms, web content management system and contact management database; knowledgeable of the complexities of a membership association and volunteer management is essential. Fire service and/or public safety experience a plus.
Relevant Experience: Four years related work experience in conference/meeting planning and organization
SUPERVISION REQUIRED: This position requires periodic supervision. Incumbent sets own daily priorities and receives specific tasks from the director. Functions in a team setting, supporting the overall efforts of the department and the association in general.
Membership: Moderate contact with key members, conference faculty, speakers, committee and section members and co-located liaisons regarding conference activities.
Governing Structure: Moderate contact with some committees and sections regarding conference budgets, registration and housing, educational sessions and logistics.
Association Office Personnel: Moderate contact with staff to accomplish overall association goals and objectives.
