The Director of Project Management is responsible for client satisfaction, determining and implementing efficient and best practices leading to a successful partnership, balancing client and team need. A large portion of the role is focused on ensuring that RNLs project management team is knowledgeable and capable of providing proactive, precise and effective support. The Director is accountable for team morale and executing professional development opportunities for the project management team.
Directs and provides leadership to continually improve the capability and results for assigned area(s) of responsibility
Directs and evaluates individual/team performance and takes appropriate action to meet and/or exceed performance standards
Establishes and implements priorities, performance goals and objectives to ensure group results for assigned area(s) of responsibility
Drives & provides direction & mentoring on complex projects to ensure group results
Maintains knowledge on current and emerging product lines with the ability to assess the impact, and collaborate with management to incorporate new trends and developments in current and future solutions
Directs and enhances organizational initiatives by positively influencing and supporting change management and/or departmental/enterprise initiatives
Identifies and directs the implementation of process improvements that significantly reduce workloads or improve quality across the department
Provides subject matter expertise to team members on complex assignments/projects
Offer collaborative approach and partnership with cross functional teams to address resource needs and project staffing; provide input on resource estimates, allocations and forecasting; strategize and coordinate efforts on new product development.
Responsible for ensuring that all needed resources are identified at a project-level to successfully meet client expectations.
Coordinates project team and ensures that project tasks are completed including scheduling and facilitating project-related team meetings (i.e. kick-offs, status, internal/client reviews, etc.), communicating action steps to team, and delivering weekly status reports to project team.
Ensures that all project documentation is produced in the standard format, follows internal documentation processes and is reviewed and approved.
Escalate risks/issues with senior management in a timely manner to keep the project on track
Ensures that top talent is hired and retained
Oversee Lead Project Managers and entire Project Management team
Coordinate with Delivery and Client Services to ensure client satisfaction
Manage and maintain area’s budget and expenses
QUALIFICATIONS: Education, Licenses/Certifications, Skills and Work Experience:
Bachelor’s degree, or 5+ years of management of a Project Management team
3 + years of experience managing a project management or client services team or equivalent management experience.
Exceptional managerial, organizational and communication skills
Proficient in project managing via a flexible approach, accommodating client need without compromising best practices.
Experience in managing projects across multiple geographies.
Ability to consultatively engage with clients and to quickly make complex decisions.
Proven experience in process improvement. Proactively identifying opportunities to adjust or streamline processes for efficiencies, and to suggest alternative solutions when needed.
Proficient knowledge and use of Microsoft Office (specifically Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Capable and willing to travel when needed, anticipated at 10%
Project Manager or Account Manager at a marketing services organization
CAPM or PMP certification strongly desired
