The Manager of Recreation Marketing, will oversee Northwestern Recreation marketing, sales and customer communications. This includes managing part-time Marketing support staff, as well as assist in the development and implementation strategies that promote sales and maximize utilization of recreation facilities, programs and services. This individual will manage the production of all department publications and website, social media, digital advertising and student/member communications. The Manager of Recreation, Marketing & Membership, will create customer and program recognition vehicles to celebrate individual and group achievements; assist staff in evaluating customer satisfaction relating to recreation programs, facilities and services; assist in resolving customer concerns; and promote customer retention. The position also oversees community relations and external partnerships/sponsorships.

Responsible for designing, creating, and delivering comprehensive marketing programs and strategies to support the growth, expansion, and celebration of recreation facilities, programs, services, and participant achievements. Determine and develop all departmental print and advertising.
Oversee the Northwestern Recreation website. Implement web technologies to streamline processes and improve efficiency. Develop strategy for targeted marketing publications including e-communications, app maintenance and enhancement, and facility digital signage. Responsible for data extraction, list or lead generation, or evaluating effectiveness of marketing campaigns.
Collect and analyze data related to social media marketing campaigns. Assist in identifying the appropriate social media channels to expand Recreation program and membership awareness and tailors campaigns to the appropriate target audience. Track performance of various social media initiatives and develop/implement changes to improve goals and objectives. Stay abreast of changes in the market place to best serve the objectives of the department and adjusts plans accordingly.
Serve as the external relations liaison to Northwestern Athletics and Learfield. Research, identify, and communicate with campus and community sponsors for solicitation outreach (collaborating with NU Athletics/Learfield Sports).
Create and provide leadership for events, programs and services for campus and community engagement and community member cultivation inclusive of, but not limited to, Rec Fest and Sport Club Fair. Attend community events to increase departmental awareness and exposure.
Manage part-time Marketing staff to promote increased sales of memberships, programs & services as well as overall community awareness and exposure.
Manage interdepartmental communication of program/service information, schedules and concerns to all full time staff and designated part time staff.
Design and implement "user friendly" information/ registration system and membership database. Direct the development and implementation of membership and activity registration operations. Implement market research and customer feedback initiatives (i.e. surveys, focus groups, etc.) to evaluate customer satisfaction with use of recreation facilities, programs and services. Communicate improvements to Recreation professional staff.
Evaluate sales performance to help develop and update departmental goals and objectives to reach/exceed department revenue goals. Recommend changes to current procedures based on market research and new trends. Coordinate in conjunction with Membership Office staff the development and implementation of customer service initiatives designed to improve customer program and service satisfaction.
Recommend an annual budget for division marketing, promotions and sales.
Responsible for adhering to all Department and University policies and procedures, as well as the rules, regulations, bylaws and interpretations of the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's in Marketing or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
Two years campus recreation related marketing and sales experience.

Master’s degree in Business Administration or related field preferred
Website management experience.
Digital advertising experience.
Experience in graphic design.

CPR/First Aid certification preferred
