DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Westchester Educational Opportunity Center (WEOC) – Yonkers, NY
RESPONSIBILITIES: The SUNY Westchester Educational Opportunity Center (WEOC) a division of Westchester Community College, is seeking a highly motivated, innovative and energetic professional to join its team. Located in downtown Yonkers, NY, this non-traditional performance-driven institution provides tuition-free academic and vocational training to eligible underserved adults preparing for college and/or seeking career-oriented employment.
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, the Program Specialist serves as the Community Liaison, representing WEOC throughout Westchester and the surrounding areas. In conjunction with the Assistant Dean, he/she plans, develops and implements marketing and outreach plans and activities to promote WEOC and ATTAIN to recruit applicants for our year round program. S/he is responsible to conduct targeted street outreach, by attending community events (including on evenings and weekends), liaising with community residents, hosting onsite events, as well as conceiving, developing and disseminating promotional, marketing and outreach materials as needed. The Program Specialist will also establish and maintain relationships with the community for the purposes of promoting WEOC programs and recruiting students into training. S/he will also make public presentations and represent the WEOC at public meetings throughout Westchester. He/she will be responsible for regularly monitoring and updating WEOC’s online presence, including maintaining social media pages and online communities. The Program Specialist performs related administrative tasks, as required.
QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess a Bachelor’s Degree and two years of experience in the field of marketing, sales and advertising, recruitment/outreach and/or customer relations management. The successful candidate must also have excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Creative Suite, CRM, and geo-targeting software a plus.
SALARY & BENEFITS: The minimum starting salary is $61,979 plus competitive benefits. This position is fully grant funded.
